A business alliance has been formed for the industrialization of the "Godson chip" technology, a general-purpose, high-performance central processing unit (CPU) developed by Chinese scientists. Li Guojie, CAS member and director of CAS Institute of Computing Technology (ICT), made the announcement on December 24.
Presently, the industrial league has seven members, including ICT, the Haier Group. The League plans to rally over 100 R&D institutions and manufacturers under its flag. By pooling their resources, it hopes to develop over 100 categories of Godson Chips-based products and sell over one million units in two years.
This will give rise to a group of industrial enterprises that own independent intellectual property rights, as well as an enterprises chain, which will facilitate the development of the entire IT industry.
